Do you fly often? Maybe you take a lot of business trips for work or maybe you just love traveling the world. No matter the reason, many frequent flyers are enrolling in the TSA PreCheck program. The application is simple and if you’re approved, you could enjoy a faster, more convenient airport experience. Around 200 Airports Honor It
Since it was first introduced, more and more airports have implemented a designated section for TSA PreCheck. Right now, around 200 airports throughout the U.S. honor the membership, so no matter where you’re flying to or from, you’ll likely be able to use it.
Kids Can Use It
If you have kids aged 12 or younger, they can go through PreCheck for free as long as they’re with an adult who is enrolled. Kids aged 13 and older, however, will need their own membership.
Security Checks Are Easier
Going through security is a hassle - from taking off your shoes to taking your laptop out of your bag and putting it in its own bin. When you’re a member of TSA PreCheck, however, you won’t have to do either of those things. In fact, you won’t have to take off your shoes, belt, or jacket and you won’t have to remove your laptop or your 3-1-1 liquids from your bag. This makes going through security much easier.
It’s Good for 5 Years
Right now, a PreCheck membership is only $85 and you’ll be able to use it for five years before you have to reapply. When you break it down, that means you’re paying less than $20 per year (or to break it down even further, less than $1.50 per month).
It (May) Be Covered by Your Credit Card
While the cost of a membership right now is $85, you may not have to pay anything. There are several credit card companies that include Global Entry (and if you apply for Global Entry, TSA PreCheck is included). If you have any of these credit cards, you’ll likely be able to be reimbursed for your Global Entry application fee:

- Citi AAdvantage Executive World Elite Mastercard
- Chase Sapphire Reserve
- American Express Gold (U.S. Bank FlexPerks)
- Ritz-Carlton Rewards
It Saves Time
Each participating airport has a designated TSA PreCheck section that allows only PreCheck members. This means you can skip the regular security line and enjoy the shorter, faster PreCheck security line. (According to tsa.gov, members waited five minutes or less.)
