Travelers who frequently fly American Airlines will be happy to know that the carrier now offers service from Philadelphia International Airport to two capital cities in central Europe. Earlier this month, American Airlines made an inaugural flight from PHL to both Prague and Budapest, officially adding the destinations to its list of cities that it services from Philadelphia.
“We are very pleased that our hub carrier American Airlines has introduced service to these wonderful cities,” said Airport CEO Chellie Cameron in a press release. “International destinations are a priority and we are proud to see that American Airlines is using PHL to expand its service.”
All three cities - Philadelphia, Prague, and Budapest - enjoy the common thread of being World Heritage cities due to the fact that you can find UNESCO World Heritage sites at each destination. And because of this new service from American Airlines, those traveling from Prague and Budapest will have the opportunity to access Philadelphia and many other cities around the country more easily.
The addition of these new cities brings the list of international destinations to 36 for PHL, with 16 of those destinations being capital cities; travelers will be able to book one of two daily flights (one in the morning and one in the evening) to either.
“American Airlines’ new direct service between Philadelphia and Budapest will open up a new era in Hungarian-American relations,” said Dr. Laszlo Szabó, Ambassador of Hungary. “This new infrastructure will allow Hungarian and American businessmen to trade and invest more efficiently, and help tourists experience the best of both countries with speed and comfort.”
